Hi, I'm Leland Hasty.


I am a photographer dedicated to mastering modern photography in its traditional form.


Currently offering services for the DMV area while I work here as a full-time photojournalist.


Born in Nashville, I lived in the south until I moved to Hawaii about three years ago. When I got to Hawaii I was relieved to find out that it has a similar pace to life as most of the south. That relaxed feeling is exactly what you should expect when working with me during a session - don't worry, I packed it with me when I moved to the DMV!


Photography, in its root sense, literally means "drawing with light". That's the inspiration that I draw from when I go to take a photograph; I consciously set the scene to ensure that the lighting is exactly how I want it to be, then I work to help you express yourself regardless of whether there's a camera nearby.


Motion prompts, natural moments, and visible emotion are my favorite things to photograph, and I focus on those priorities constantly during my sessions.


In my free time, I enjoy exploring wherever I'm currently living, hiking, meeting new people, reading, scuba diving, practicing my photography and videography, and trying new restaurants.
